The Big Brain Bit

08/07/2022 @ 19:00 - 21:00

“I got my first dog, Casper, in the 1980s. I loved him, but he was driving me nuts with some of the things he did. And our relationship was suffering because of it, I was spending far too much time getting miffed with him and not enough time enjoying him. So I took him along to classes. Yeay! And once I’d got to looking after his brain better, I realised how much all my confusion was driving him nuts too.

“That’s one of the reasons we spend so much time teaching the humans. Yes, good food and a comfortable bed are important to him, and socialising him also hugely important. But improving our ability to teach him the right thing so we don’t end up confusing him or getting annoyed when he does the wrong thing, that’ll make sure both of us are are happy as we can be.”

Jenny, Positively Pets Instructor

Big Brain is two hours teaching owners the kind of thing that’s necessary to get the most out of class/visit. Stuff that isn’t it isn’t possible, or maybe just isn’t easy, to do online.

Anyone who’s involved with your dog’s care is welcome, but dogs stay at home. Dogs get very bored while humans learn.

We do a quick review of your Web Course to help make sure you’re getting as much out of it as you can.

We play “The Dolphin Game.” Learning how to handle a clicker and how to mark behaviour accurately.

We play “The Training Game.” Developed by clicker trainers to help give us insight into what it’s like to learn the way our dogs do, without the assistance of the English language.

Finishing with questions and shares.
